The proposed Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulation of Entry and Operations) Bill, 2010 seeks to permit foreign universities into India's higher education system.

We very well know the fee charged in the standard institutions in India which is far lesser than those of U.S, Canada, Germany, Russia, etc. Very few Indian students can afford them. But yes it does have the benefit too. Almost 200,000 join the U.S institutions every year for better job opportunities and the quality teaching they offer. Due to the installation of foreign universities here they may continue their studies here expecting the quality. This idea may reduce the BRAIN DRAIN which India is facing today.

One major problem that may come due to this concept can crash the Indian Education system. These foreign institutions are actually much better than our regarding practical approach and everything. This may create sense of competition among our institutes. They may even try to enhance their methods of teaching for students which will definitely benefit students. No doubt. But this will result into increase in fee of our institutes which will then be not affordable by common people.
Hence merits and demerits exist within this idea. Reforms are desirable.

It is a welcome change to have foreign universities opening campuses in India. Let's hope the government will intervene with some prescriptive measures or norms and standardize the fee structure.
